Journey into Text

​This resource is designed for use alongside the Learning Media Junior Journals 29-33. Students will be asked to think about what they are reading and complete the activities by writing or drawing as indicated. Skills covered include: word endings, alliteration, adjectives and verbs, close reading, word matching, letter writing, using a dictionary, true/false, cause and effect, plus/minus/interesting, onomatopoeia, and labelling and captioning.

Mastering Text - Poetry

This new poetry-based ESL resource kit from User Friendly Resources has been developed specifically for students with non-English-speaking backgrounds, but may also be used with students with language difficulties. It uses 15 original and diverse poems as the basis for a wide range of comprehension-based language activities, which are based around both reading the material and listening to it from the accompanying audio CD. Each poem constitutes a separate unit of work and is accompanied by ideas on building a lesson around the text, suggested learning outcomes, and evaluation charts.

Thinking Hats

This title is based on Edward De Bono's Thinking Hats concept. Creativity is the wealth of tomorrow. Developing laterality in approach to issues is exciting, challenging and critical, learning. World renowned Edward De Bono's Read more...concept of 'Thinking Hats' has proven itself to be an excellent way to ensure that students consider problems and issues from different perspectives; 'actively thinking'. This series of three books teaches the use of Edward de Bono's six thinking hats; white for facts and information, yellow for optimism, green for creativity, blue for the overall picture, black for negative, red for emotions. A series of 40 lessons in each book, spans almost all the curriculum areas so that students practise using thinking hats in many contexts.

Fabulous Food Series

This book is packed with more activities that will help students of a wide range of ages and abilities learn about food and nutrition. Students can learn about where food comes from, its various effects on the body, food labelling, food hygiene, different cultural practices around food, and much more. The resource includes a wide variety of practical and written worksheet activities including, art, writing, science and research exercises, recipes, and food hygiene and safety tasks. 
 

Creating Caring Classrooms Series

This three-book series aims to integrate values into the everyday school curriculum, and encourages students to think about their own values and those of others within the broader context of traditional school subjects such as English, The Arts, Drama, Music, Social Sciences, and more. The values covered in the resource include: Diversity, Community, Respect and Care, Integrity, Inquiry, Curiosity, and Excellence. Each book contains lesson plans and activities that cover multiple curriculum areas, and is divided into sections for each school subject, with the first two activities in each subject set at a basic level, and the last two at a more advanced level. The diverse range of activities in the resource means that teachers can pick and choose relevant activities as desired, or use the resource as the basis for a comprehensive values education unit
